Opinions of international students at the University of Pécs

Vice-rector Lászlo Imre Komlósi, the International Relations Office and the Hungarian Student Union organized a meeting with the representatives of international students of the University of Pécs.

The management of the university established a tradition of meetings and discussions to be informed about problems and needs of international students in order to help them.

Gyöngyi Pozsgai, head of the International Relations Office said that we have almost 2000 international students this year, most of them are studying at the Medical School. She emphasized that the university would like to increase the number of the foreign students in other faculties as well.

Viktória Mátyás, the general secretary of the Student Union and Dr. Tíra Thassy assistant of the president of the Student Union also welcomed the representatives and offered help and cooperation concerning Erasmus programs and organizing common sport programs.

First Enrico Passoni from the BA Business Administration (BABA) programme shared his ideas and impressions about the situation at Faculty of Business and Economics. He expressed that his internationally recognized dual degree is a good opportunity in his life and stressed the high level of the quality of the education and the helpful well-organized administration.

Secondly Leila Massudi representing the Psychology programme at the Faculty of Humanities shared her experiences. She said about the good living conditions and the attractive force of Pécs. She also would like to continue her studies here, if an MA programme launched in Psychology.

 

Sigrid Anna Vikjord, English programme president of the English-German Student Council (EGSC) talked about the importance of the integration of the international students to the life of the Hungarians.

All of the representatives stressed they will work for help the better adaptation and information flow in many ways, for instance with establishing information networks, translating and publishing booklets and maintaining blogs. Finally the participants also had suggestions how to improve the effectiveness of administration and recruitment campaigns.

The participants hope that this meeting will contribute to the further fruitful cooperation of management and students.
