Dr. Zsuzsanna Gerner Received the National Minorities Prize

The National Minorities Prize were presented on 16 December, and Dr. Zsuzsanna Gerner, lecturer at the University of Pécs, Director General of the Teacher Training Centre in Pécs and Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany, was also honoured.

The award is given to people and organisations that have performed exemplary activities in the interests of Hungarian national minorities in public life, education, culture, church life, science, mass media and economic self-organisation.

In Hungary, the government decided on 21 September 1995 that 18 December is the Day of Minorities, and the Award for Minorities was established on that day; in 2012, the Parliament declared the day the Day of National Minorities and the award the National Minorities Award.
