What are you currently doing?
I am currently a Land Use Planner at a law firm called Miller & Canby in Rockville, Maryland (United States), where I work with the firm’s attorneys to support development and zoning efforts across various jurisdictions, primarily in Montgomery County. My work focuses on zoning analysis, permitting approvals, community planning, and GIS mapping. I’ve had the opportunity to contribute to exciting, award-winning community plans.

Where are you currently living and working/studying?

I currently live in Bethesda, Maryland in Unites States.

How did your time at the University of Pécs and your International Student Ambassador experience influence your current path?

The courses I took not only deepened my interest in urban and regional planning but also gave me a solid foundation in land use and community development. I owe much of this direction to my professors at UP, Faculty of sciences to be specific, whose guidance and passion for the field were truly inspiring. One of the most influential aspects of my studies was the field trips we took to towns in and around Pécs and even to other parts of Hungary. These real-world experiences allowed me to observe different planning approaches, engage with local communities, and understand the social, historical, and environmental factors that shape cities.

Through ISA, I built lasting relationships and developed cross-cultural communication skills that continue to serve me well, especially when working with multidisciplinary teams and navigating community engagement processes. These experiences strengthened my adaptability, fueled my passion for equitable development, and inspired me to pursue a career where I can contribute to meaningful, sustainable planning solutions.

Could you write a short story or reflection about your time at the University of Pécs and how it impacted your life?

My time at the University of Pécs and as an ISA opened my eyes to diverse cultures and planning perspectives. Our field trips and community engagement inspired me to pursue sustainable, equitable development, shaping both my career and who I am today.

What is one piece of advice you would give to current or incoming international students at UP?

Be open minded academically, socially and culturally!! Embrace every opportunity to learn, connect and explore. The experiences you gain will shape your journey in ways you truly can’t imagine, and the friends you make may just become family.
